Redesigning RDS

The User Experience Design team was engaged to make recommendations to improve the user experience for the Retail Data Services (RDS) application by making it more useful, esthetically pleasing, and intuitive.

The team met with users to understand their goals and usage of the existing RDS interface. After creating designs, they reviewed them with the users and made iterative improvements until coming up with a final version that not only met the users needs but was well-designed. The before and after versions of the homepage are shown below.

The existing homepage has some navigational issues and does not contain all the information users need.

After...



The redesigned homepage is more like a dashboard and displays critical information, messages, and charts that users can quickly access.

The Report Builder is the most frequently used part of this application. The team produced a new Report Builder that solved many search filter and query-building issues, shown below.
