Usability testing helps improve registrations for Three-Screen Showcase

In November of 2007, the User Experience design team designed a new registration/download page for Three-Screen Showcase. Usability tests were done on the existing and new designs during September 2007, and the team used the findings to design and implement a new site that went live on December 7.

The goal of the redesign was to make the registration more apparent and easier to use. The team also created an HTML mini showcase demo for users who were not able to install Kontiki.

User-centered design techniques enabled the team to understand what information customers were willing to provide in a registration form. Click the image to see the showcase live.

New design leads to increased successful registrations

Since the new site went live, registrations have increased substantially, even during the slow holiday week. Lead generation reports showed that users had to enter their information at least twice. With the new easier-to-use form, users need to enter their information only once.
